Here are some thoughts and memories about Long Lake from your neighbors.  Contribute your own by sending them to the webmaster!  The newest ones are at the top.

bulletI really enjoyed looking at your website and hope to visit often.  My wife's parents have enjoyed their cabin on the north end of the lake for over 40 years and we have enjoyed our own cabin, also on the north end since 1985.  Our own children and now their children are also enjoying summers at the lake.  Thank you and keep up the good work!

bulletWe enjoy the time we spend at our cabin on Long Lake.

bulletI am a 3rd generation Long Lake cabin owner with my grandfather purchasing land and building a cabin in the 1920s.  In 1954 the cottage was transferred to my father where we lived during the summers without shoes, never going into town, no phone, no TV and anxious to see Dad arrive after work so we could ski before supper.  Water skiing started at age six with a new 20 HP Eau Claire made Martin Motor, forward gear only, on an Alumacraft boat.  I purchased the neighbor's cabin in 1988 and since then my wife and the kids have made it their summer home.  We winterized it and made it our residence in 1999.  I also maintain the original cabin which my parents still visit most weekends and enjoy the traditional July 4th family re-union with fireworks.

bulletWe purchased our two-bedroom cottage in 1967 from the original owner who built it as a retirement home.  As the kids grew to adults, we all enjoyed sharing our get-away spot with our relatives and friends from all over the country.  Favorite activities are swimming, fishing, sailing, and star-gazing.  The sunsets are great, and northern lights are spectacular.  We have made many good friends in our little community.

bulletWe've owned our property since l963 and made a small addition in l988.  The cabin is in use during all seasons.

bulletI started visiting the lake as soon as I was born at Cabin #4 at Babbitt's Resort.  We lived in Chippewa Falls then and only came about two weeks out of the year.  I think by ' 75 we started to rent #4 for the whole summer.  My family bought land on the north end of the lake in '80-'81 and built our first place then.  It unfortunately burned down in '90 and was rebuilt in '91.  It has been my permanent residence since '96.

bulletMy parents bought the cabin about 1963.  It was torn down and rebuilt in 1996.  My parents and five sons and families use the cabin today.  It's open year 'round, with limited use over the winter.

bulletWhenever we visit our cottage, we see the artwork and photographs of the dear friends and family who have passed on.  In this too, too busy life, it is nice to relax and reminisce about our loved ones, and how they cherished their time on Long Lake

bulletI'd hate to think of our lake as a green one!!!
